Physical Security Background

About Me
My background supports the same core security habits used in a SOC: observe, investigate, document, escalate, and keep improving.
More than five years in physical security helped me build vigilance, situational awareness, access control discipline, incident reporting habits, and attention to detail.
I am building technical skills through home labs involving Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux systems, networking, SIEM platforms, vulnerability assessment, and malware analysis tools.
Whether protecting people, buildings, systems, or data, the goal is consistent: identify suspicious activity, investigate carefully, document findings, and support the protection of assets.
Volunteer IT & Web Infrastructure Support · South Africa · Remote
I am not a professional web developer, and I do not present myself as one. What I do have is a habit of saying yes to problems I have not solved before, because that is how I learn fastest and prove to myself that I can adapt. One example: I volunteered my time to support a growing logistics and transportation company (roughly 5–10 employees) with its IT and web infrastructure, simply because it was a real system with real stakes, not a lab exercise.
Over that engagement, I worked through tasks I had to learn largely on the spot, including:
This is the same trait I want to bring into a SOC: comfortable being out of my depth, methodical about closing the gap, and quick to pick up whatever a situation actually requires.
